Six people were injured in a gun attack on a tourist bus carrying more than 70 people in southeastern France Sunday, a public prosecutor said.

The bus, which set off from Spain, was carrying Czech citizens. The unidentified assailants reportedly used hunting rifles.

One of the injured persons is said to be in a critical condition.

Valence prosecutor Alex Perrin told a press conference that the armed attack happened on the A7 highway in southeastern France.

Some of the injured tourists returned to their country after receiving treatment. Police have launched an operation to nab the assailants, Perrin added.
