Russia's president on Thursday authorized the government to close the country's borders to road transport from "unfriendly countries."

In a decree, Vladimir Putin also gave the government the power to decide when to apply such measures.

Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war on Feb.24, EU countries have taken various restrictions on the use of European lands by Russian road transport.
