One more PKK terrorist has surrendered to Turkish security forces, security sources told Anadolu Agency on Sunday.

With the latest surrender, the number of terrorists who have laid down their arms through persuasion efforts this year now stands at 128.

The terrorist surrendered in the Suruc district of the Sanliurfa province after escaping from the PKK/YPG terror group in northern Syria.

Security sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to media restrictions, said the terrorist is being interrogated.

In Turkey, offenders linked to terrorist groups who surrender are eligible for possible sentence reductions under a repentance law.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
