Murat Yağız, Head of Central Meram Chamber of Agriculture, put forward the idea of a Greenhouse Base project to be established in Konya for the development of Konya's economy. For this, Murat Yağız, who conveyed his request to the relevant ministries, said, “With this project, we can say that the costs between open field production and greenhouse production will decrease by 50 percent and production will increase at least four times. If these happen, as Konya, we can make a great contribution to consumer prices and export dimension ”.
Head of Central Meram Chamber of Agriculture, Murat Yağız presented the project of establishing a Greenhouse Base in Konya at the online meeting attended by the Minister of Environment and Urbanization, Murat Kurum, at the beginning of the pandemic. Underlining that he carried out the necessary research for the project, Mayor Murat Yağız said, “With the increasing drought, vegetable and fruit production has decreased in the Mediterranean region. Therefore, the greenhouse business should be shifted to a city with a cool climate like Konya. We conducted a research on costs, how much workmanship should be made, how much product was collected, how much water was processed. As a result of these studies, we saw that we can get 1 to 4, 1 to 5 crops together with our Agricultural Engineers ”.
'WE REQUESTED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A GREENHOUSE'
Expressing that they demanded from the relevant ministries to establish greenhouses consisting of 3 or 5 thousand meters on an area of at least 1-2 million square meters, Yağız said, “We stated that our producers will contribute to this by 20-30 percent for the expenses. We have declared that we can operate and monitor them as chambers of agriculture by establishing a cooperative or a company with our own agricultural engineers. Despite the urgent instruction of our Minister to work on this issue, we could not make any progress other than 2-3 meetings during the 9-month period from March until this time. But if we go back to five years ago for the future of our country, the Mediterranean climate five years ago and today's climatic conditions are not the same. Drought broke out in 2020. This Dutch model, which is less water, less medicine, less seed, less machine and equipment costs, more uniform worker model, can be developed urgently in the regions of Konya with geothermal energy. However, in the production we call greenhouse, our Meram district has a 65 percent share in Konya ”

Making evaluations about the social greenhouse project of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Yağız stated: “I do not ignore the support Konya Metropolitan Municipality has given to agriculture in the last year. I thank you on behalf of all chambers of agriculture for that. It is admirable that Konya Metropolitan Municipality supports Yonca, fink, sow barley and wheat on their own lands, but I think this social greenhouse project does not get the value it deserves. Because agriculture engineers who do not come from the bottom and any greenhouse cultivation that does not take place in agriculture chambers can not be successful. In this model, I can easily declare that our other district municipalities cannot go a step further than the hobby gardens system. By cooperating, we can produce much bigger projects. "
'BOTH THE PRODUCER AND THE CONSUMER CAN EARN’
Stating that both the producer and the consumer can dig with the Serra base project, Yağız said: “The greenhouses that are planned to be heated with hot water geothermal energy have started in Cihanbeyli and Tuzlukçu. Greenhouse cultivation activities are successfully carried out in Afyon in the Central Anatolia region and in Simav region of Kütahya. There is a greenhouse region in Afyon that exports more domestically to abroad. We also got the samples from here. We can say that this will increase the costs from geothermal energy, which is the most convenient at the moment, and considering the regional distances, it will be more suitable for greenhouse cultivation due to the air circulation of the Meram region compared to the Altınekin, Cihanbeyli, Kulu, Altınekin regions. This is available in some of our Karatay region, with 350-400 greenhouses. If installed in a suitable place in the middle of them, and Karatay Meram soon as we combine our citizens living in the Republic of Turkey to our consumers, whether we can find a common point of production to lower both producing and consuming will win. 'GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO EMPLOYMENT MAY ALSO'

Yağız said, “The greenhouse project is indispensable in terms of employment, human health and consumers in terms of preserving the balance of nature. I said this today, I was telling it a year ago, and after five years we will come back to what we said, but let's not be late, ”he concluded.
