Over 1,000 historical artifacts seized in Turkey
Objects include metallic coins believed to be from Byzantine, Roman periods
Gendarmerie forces seized over 1,000 historical objects in an operation in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Kahramanmaras on Friday.
This came after the gendarmerie received a tip off that a suspect was looking for clients to sell artifacts he possessed.
A total of 1,006 metallic coins and 137 other objects believed to be from Byzantine and Roman periods were seized.
Legal action was launched against the suspect identified by the initials Y. M.
