Turkey ‘neutralizes’ 9 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq

Turkish security forces neutralized nine PKK terrorists in the Gara region of northern Iraq, security sources said on Monday.

The sources who spoke on condition of anonymity said the operation was held on Dec. 9 by the Turkish Armed Forces and National Intelligence Organization.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
